After breakfast, you’ll start a city sightseeing tour around Luang Prabang. You’ll visit the vegetable market and the former King’s Palace, gaining insight into both the town’s history and contemporary life. Luang Prabang is considered one of Southeast Asia’s best-preserved traditional cities, with its tranquility and charm enhanced by splendid natural scenery and cultural sights like Wat Xieng Thong.

You’ll then take a morning cruise along the Mekong River for about two hours, discovering the numerous Buddha images in the Pak Ou Caves. Pak Ou, which means “mouth of the river,” features two caves—Tham Ting (lower cave) and Tham Theung (upper cave)—overlooking the Mekong River. After exploring the caves, you’ll head to the nearby village of Ban Xang Hai to learn about Lao whisky (Lao Lao) and Lao wine (Lao Hai), before returning to Luang Prabang by boat.

Upon your return, you’ll visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. Later, you’ll climb to the top of Phu Si Mountain to explore the sacred, gilded stupa and enjoy a breathtaking sunset view of the city and the Mekong River. You’ll spend the night in Luang Prabang.

For early risers, the alms-giving ceremony offers a wonderful opportunity to experience local culture. You’ll have the chance to enjoy the sunrise at the crossroads in town around 5:00 AM, where you’ll also see monks in saffron robes from Luang Prabang’s many temples walking in silent processions, receiving offerings from the faithful.

After breakfast, your tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel. You’ll visit the morning Phosi Market, where you’ll find a diverse array of items, including dried buffalo skin, local tea, and saltpeter, alongside chickens, vegetables, and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is renowned for its traditional crafts, and today you’ll visit Ban Ouay (Hmong Hill tribe), Ban Ou (Lowland Lao), and Ban Thapene (Khmu village).

You’ll then continue to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall, where you can splash around in the pools or stroll along the forest paths. Afterward, you’ll return to Luang Prabang and take a short drive to Ban Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, known for their handmade Jute Sar paper. The rest of the day will be at your leisure.
